Product Introduction
PDLC film is short for Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal. It is an upgraded version of the non-adhesive PDLC film, enhanced by adding a self-cling adhesive layer to the back of the standard film so it can be applied directly to glass. This electric switchable glass film is widely used as a modern privacy film on glass windows, allowing existing glass to be upgraded from transparent to opaque.
When powered on, the smart tint PDLC film becomes clear; when powered off, the smart film privacy glass turns into a frosted film glass . For bulk installation and long-length applications, PDLC film is also available in PDLC film rolls. PDLC film in roll can be cut by yourself and it is cheap cost.
Working Principle

Application Areas

- Hospital Wards & ICU Rooms
Replace traditional curtains to improve hygiene.
One-touch privacy helps staff monitor patients easily while providing dignity.
- Dental Clinic, Diagnostic Rooms
Ideal for ultrasound, consultation, and imaging rooms where privacy is essential.

Installation Guidance
1. Preparation Before Installation
Tools preparation
Glass scraper / utility knife
Microfiber cloth
Alcohol
Squeegee
Measuring tape
Multimeter (for power testing)
Insulation tape / wiring tools
transformer (depending on film spec)
2. Environmental Conditions
Install in a clean, dust-free room(if available).
Avoid direct airflow that could blow dust onto the film.
3. Glass Requirements
Glass must be smooth, and well-cleaned.
Remove:
Dust / oil / fingerprints
Silicone residue
Paint or stickers
If the glass is low-E, ensure the film goes on the non-coated side.
4. Measuring & Cutting the Film
Film Orientation
Confirm the busbar side is at the correct location:
Usually positioned at the top or side
Close to the cable exit point
Cutting Guidelines
Cut slightly smaller than the glass (2–3 mm margin on each side).
Use a sharp blade to avoid jagged edges.
Never cut through the busbar.
5. Installation Methods
Self-adhesive PDLC Film (Dry Installation)
STEP 1: Ensure the PDLC Smart Self-Adhesive Film on a clean flat surface.
STEP 2: Make sure that the adhesive side is facing up. Do not remove the protective layer one time until you finished installation. The adhesive side is usually marked with a label or a red tape.
STEP 3:Use a microfiber cloth with alcohol clean and remove dust and fingerprints from the glass surface before applying the glass film.
STEP 4:Glass film is made up of 2 internal layers (the active film) and two very thin, outer protective films that peel away for the installation.
STEP 5: Check the glass film - the "front" of the film will have electrical wires across the bottom. pull away the top corners of the film on the BACK to reveal the adhesive side very carefully. Do not pull the back film all the way off.
STEP 6: Remove the top corners of the protective layer from the adhesive side of the glass. Using the supplied squeegee, press firmly along the top and continue to press down to fully apply the film. Peel away the protective layer as the film is applied. This technique will help prevent air pockets in your film.If finding air bubbles, peel off the film with squeegee little by little ,make sure no air bubbles.
STEP 7: Once the PDLC film is stick on, gently peel off the protective film from the top layer.Connect the power supply to check the film is powered.
STEP 8: Seal edges with glass silicon(non acidic),neutral glass silicone. When the film is power off, it will appear opaque. When the film is power on, it is transparent.
